Thanks to a generous grant from USDA, Virginia is set to produce a new Virginia Grown product, although this one can’t exactly be consumed.
The Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (VDACS) is proud to announce an engaging, affordable conference for those interested in the farm to school movement. The 2015 Virginia Farm to School conference aims to enrich community connections to fresh local food, while building momentum towards healthier schools and kids. The press release states that the “conference will feature school procurement basics for nutrition directors and farmers, distribution models including local food hubs, school gardens, food safety and community collaborations. Plus inspiring examples of Farm to School efforts taking place across the Commonwealth and much more!”
Don’t miss this exciting new Virginia Grown product! It may not be technically ” consumable,” but it certainly cultivates community!
